Benefits of Tea Drinking

Drinking tea is an old and ancient tradition that has made it to be the second most beverage to be drunk worldwide after water. In almost every country and race there is at least one tea that has been passed down by generations. Besides being an enjoyable and delicious drink, it has proven to be very beneficial, both medically and emotionally. Teas can be divided into 7 categories: Green, Black,Ginseng, Herbal, Oolong, Rooibos, and White Tea. Each different family of have their own special benefits and taste.

The teas that will be focused on will be Green, and Black Teas. Green Tea is the most popular and widely drunk tea, with the most medical benefits. According to the The Journal of the American Medical, Drinking Green Tea greatly reduces mortality, and prevents cardiovascular disease. Green Tea has also been found to burn fat deposits in the body; this process has been perfected by extracting Green Tea extract and making it into a pill form. Other medical conditions that Green Tea can prevent and assist in are: Cancers, rheumatoid arthritis, high cholesterol, and help maintain a healthy immune system. So just what's in this beverage that gives it its healing abilities? It's called catechin polyphenois, especially epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is the powerful antioxidant that decreases the growth of cancer, and blood clots. EGCG prevents other various problems such as cavities and harmful bacteria.

Black Tea, or often referred to as the "healing tea", has lots of mental and emotional benefits, with few physical ones. Black Tea is the most common amongst all tea drinking races. Unlike the amounts of caffeine in coffee or in its cousin green tea, black tea has lower amounts of caffeine, which in turn promotes blood flow to the brain. This d significantly increases concentration and memory, contains trace element fluoride prevent tooth decay, and anti-inflammatory chemicals to help with digestion.

Black teas therapeutic effects on intestinal and gastric illnesses are due to its tannins. Tannins are released from black tea leaves when steeped for a full 15 minutes, they decrease intestinal dysfunction and are excellent antidiarrheal. Black Tea opens flow in capillaries and helps maintain a healthy blood pressure. Last but not least Black Tea's theophylline improves levels of good cholesterol.
